I am katsola and I create kawaii, mischievous creatures, tough girls, murals, illustration, fine art and design.
Katharine Kearns gave herself the name Katsola® in 2000, inspired by a tribute retablo of the anima sola she created for Lawndale’s Annual Dia de los Muertos show. Katsola has always been an artist since she was very young, her mom tells the story of an amazing Wonder Woman drawing she proudly brought to school for show and tell. She is also part of a twinset, and would ofter draw and paint as her twin Amy read about Albert Einstein and his Theory of Relativity. She continued to draw and take as many art classes as she could and was lucky enough to attend St. Agnes Academy a private college preparatory school in Houston, TX. Katsola had the benefit of having a wonderful teacher, Laura Costa who made sure that the art classes the school offered would prepare young artists for college as much as any science or math class would. In addition, Katsola, also had the benefit of an interior designer/ art teacher mother and architect father.
